Mt Druitt and surrounding suburbs have encounted remarkable change. The pressure of immigration, the desire of people to own their own homes and the electrification of the railway line in 1955 saw the city people turning towards the western district areas for cheaper land.
The first Housing commission homes were built in 1966 . The area is mostly privately built homes plus House and Land packages, Medium Density e.g Town Houses Units and Villers. Old Mt Druitt and parts of Rooty Hill has lovely ¼ acre blocks with a mixture of fibro and large modern brick homes. Most of the housing is post war.
